This is my first ballet class after my contemporary dance class. While the sore from the contemporary dance class is still over there, I can clearly feel that I have outgrown my current ballet level. Now I can focus on getting all the details in the class. I can start memorising the steps and focusing on my perfection. I am far from perfect still, but I already feel ready for moving up to the next level next term. In fact, I can even see that I could potentially move to the intermediate level after doing the improver level for two times. I need to focus on what to get from my class right now. My focus will now be memorising the ballet terms and the movements 😤.

Today we did plié, tendu, grand battlement and two other steps on the barre. We did two different movements at the centre. We also did two jump movements. I am happy that now I am in the position that I can remember the structure of my ballet class. I am happy that my balance has dramatically improved from the last term. A lot of works related to balance is actually because of my sleep… Now when I sleep more and become more energetic, I naturally have more ability to balance, turn out and do other things.

I also notice that my motivation for dancing is no longer doing any form of somatic therapy. It was the reason and motivation when I first started them, but I no longer need this motivation. I do them because I like them. I like the structure and discipline that ballet is giving me. It could be boring, but I am not expecting to get every physical need and feel all fascination from ballet. I now have contemporary dance to balance me out. I am excited now.

I am excited to sharpen my skills next week 🩰.
