Welcome to the Dancer’s Cafe!
The story of the Cafe arose one day after a ballet class when I was at a cafe. I was journaling and reflecting on how the movements that I learned in class had strengthened me physically, mentally, and spiritually. I then imagined a cafe called the Dancer’s Cafe where dancers, whether professionals or amateurs, can gather and talk about movements and how they can transform life meaningfully.
Dance has a special place in my heart. I like the introspective nature when my mind and body align together through each movement. I like treating my body as a quiet instrument that harmonises with the music. I like the somatic experiences through dance. I am by no means a professional dancer, and I do not plan to become one. However, I was fascinated when one of my dance teachers referred to us as “dancers” in our lessons. Yes, I want to be a dancer in my own universe.
This platform is this universe for me to reflect on my dance journey. All posts will be based on the three categories:
- Journey to Pointe: restoring patience, strength and control through ballet, until and beyond my pointe journey.
- Path to Release: finding freedom, flow and hope through movements in contemporary dance.
- Coffee Thoughts: quiet reflections brewed between practices, relating to mind, body, and music.
I am interested in ballet and contemporary dance, so all content will be related to them. My dance journey is a dialogue between ballet and contemporary dance. Music of all forms is the backbone.
All of my content is subjective and personal. If you like the content, you might also like my other platforms Thoughts Behind and My Rock Notebook.
Welcome again to the Dancer’s Cafe!
