Today is another day of doing ballet. I feel that even though I felt tired before the ballet class, I don’t feel as tired as I normally feel. Is it because, unlike other times, I ate slightly more than usual? In any case, I guess I’ll eat out on Monday nights before lesson (simple meal that’s less than £4) to make sure that I still have some energy after the lesson…!
In today’s lesson, we spent slightly more time on barre than at the centre. I can see how my legs can move smoother than what I could usually do. Yay! The muscles are slightly more comfortable moving around. I like how I no longer feel tense or nervous doing all of them. Everything feels really relaxed today. I know that one reason for this is that I decided to repeat this introduction lesson another time before moving on to the improver lesson last week. I notice how instead of intentionally trying harder, I am now more comfortable improving with the flow and focusing on my own movements.
Last week, I was bumped into by a cyclist… I am grateful that I was alive and wasn’t injured. My right arm was hit, but it was my butt that landed. I reflected on it and realised that it was because of the landing, I wasn’t injured at all. I think it’s partially because my ballet training (even when it’s just once a week) that made me more mindful with my body and the use of my balances and other parts of my body. I like it. I like how now I am better at moving with my body with the training. I know that pointe is what to eventually do, but I love this entire process as well. I love building strength and flexibility.
On Wednesday, I will be selecting classes for the new term. I hope that there will be a suitable contemporary dance class that I can do alongside the ballet dance lesson. I look forward to unlocking this side mission in my life 🩰🎶.
